Silica sand processing plant technical process

1.Grinding and classifying
The common formation of quartz ore is generally quartz lump and sandy quartz, the quartz lump needs to be crushed down to 25mm and then to be ground to reach a certain particle size by a rod mill, and then enter the hydraulic classifier to separate out a desired particle size range. The sandy quartz needs to be screened first to remove impurities such as soil and organic matter, and then enter the hydraulic classifier to separate out a desired particle size range. The classified quartz sand enters the next processing operation.
2.First washing and desliming
The processed quartz sand slurry can be first washed and deslimed in the desliming cone to remove some impurities, and at the same time, the sand slurry is dewatered to make the concentration of quartz sand slurry reach 60%-70%, be prepared for the subsequent scrubbing operation.
3.Attrition scrubbing
The prepared quartz sand slurry is sent to the scrubbing machine for scrubbing. After continuous scrubbing, the soil and impurities covering the surface of the quartz sand are disassociated from the quartz sand, and then enter the washing operation for further treatment.
4.Second washing and desliming
After scrubbing, the impurities and quartz sand have been disassociated, impurities exist in the surface of quartz sand and slurry, go through the desliming cone to remove soil and impurities, the purity of quartz sand is further improved.
5.Quartz sand magnetic separation
There are various of ferric and other magnetic impurities in the washed quartz sand, and the strong magnetic and weak magnetic ferric substances in the quartz sand are removed by the drum magnetic separator and the high gradient magnetic separator in the magnetic separation system.
6.Quartz sand gravity separation
There are some harmful heavy mineral impurities in some quartz sand, which need to be gravity sorted through spiral chute to remove the heavy mineral impurities.
7.Quartz sand flotation
There is still a part of iron, aluminum, mica, feldspar and other impurities in the processed quartz sand, the use of quartz sand flotation machine, through the flotation process, adding appropriate flotation agents, these impurities can be effectively removed, so as to increase the SiO2 content, obtain higher purity of quartz sand.
8.Washing and dewatering
After flotation, quartz sand concentrate can be dewatered by spiral sand washer or dewatering screen or press filter to obtain the final high-purity quartz sand, and its SiO2 content can reach more than 99.9%.
9.Other processes
According to the actual market demand, the acid pickling, acid scrubbing, alkaline washing, high temperature calcination and other processes can be deployed in the quartz sand production line to further improve the purity and whiteness of quartz sand to meet the different needs of various industries. The purified quartz sand product can also be dried by the quartz sand dryer, or further ground into different fineness of silica powder.
